I was very excited on Monday. Amazon confirmed that they shipped our copy of "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", which officially released on Tuesday. So I checked the UPS site and watched as the DVD made its way from Newark, Delaware to Horsham, Pennsylvania, to me! Well, I didn't actually watch the WHOLE time. I just checked occasionally. And, lo and behold, it arrived on Tuesday afternoon.
I had great plans to make dinner (Herbed Tilapia with Broccoli Flan and a Caesar Salad) and then watch the movie. Ah, but that "forgetting the DVD at the office" thing kind of put a damper on the actual viewing part. So we watched "Cosmic Tuesday" on the Science Channel. It was something about black holes, I think.
So, Wednesday. THAT will be the night we watch HP and the GoF. I even brought it home, remembering that is a helpful step towards viewability. We had dinner (Sliced Rib Eye Steaks with Broccoli Flans - leftover from the previous night - and Sauteed Mushrooms) and I popped the DVD in and we sat back on the couch to watch. We watched, but I was kind of chilled, so I bundled up with a comforter and the cat sprawled out on top of me and we both . . . WENT TO SLEEP. Just as Harry entered the maze. *sheesh*
So as noted above, I am lame. We're having dinner with the kids tonight, but hopefully I'll get the chance to watch at least the end again.
[I'll try not to fall asleep during dinner.]
This is the most touching blog I have ever read. Start here and work your way through his posts - they are a father's tribute to his daughter, Elena who died February 22nd at age six. But they are also a tribute to Maggie, his older daughter, his wife, Kim, and to the strong and caring person that he is. I don't think I would have the strength.
