Curves

There comes a time when we have to take a good look at ourselves and say, “I have to do something about this.” Sisters Anita and LaVerne have both lost weight and inches. Anita did it through Weight Watchers and LaVerne’s method was to house-sit a dog that required walking and running after each day. Or is that dog-sit? I have decided to try Curves. For those of you who don’t know, Curves is a franchise of exercise locations that are for women and take 30 minutes at least three times a week. You can go more often.

The one I go to is a mile from our house so I can walk and I have a couple of times. It is an innocuous looking suite in a strip mall with seemingly friendly people inside and with innocent looking instruments of torture in a circle inside. You go from machine to machine in increments of 30 seconds. Between each machine is a pad called a Recovery Mat. There you march or run or walk in place for thirty seconds. It is actually not so bad although some of the machines do take some muscle power. You go around twice and then do some stretches. That is the part I like the least, surprisingly enough.

Connie is one of the trainers or whatever their title is. She has lost 80 pounds and 59 inches. One of my sisters said, “She must be very short now.” No, she has lost 59 total inches in her waist, hips, thighs, arms, etc. She no longer takes medicine for diabetes or hypertension! She looks just great and is in her 60’s.

I am doing this so that I will be healthier. I don’t want to get diabetes or other things that go with overweight. I would like to reduce the medicine I take but really, I want to look better and get some new clothes.
