Um - hi! So, still cold, but it's lighter each morning as we leave for work, which means that spring is just around the corner. Or at least the "official" spring - it never really gets truly warm here until after Memorial Day. And somewhere in between, we'll have the Pennsylvania Presidential Primary.

Oh joy.

I had truly hoped that they would have settled everything and picked a Democratic nominee before now. But with Hillary's wins [qualified as I am sure they will be] yesterday in Texas and Ohio, the next important state in terms of delegates is Pennsylvania, on April 22nd.

The seven weeks leading to Pennsylvania will give breathing room to new stories and storylines. They'll include the Chicago corruption trial of Obama's former patron, Tony Rezko. They appear likely to include the release of Clinton's tax returns and her White House schedule.

And if the local mores kept the race relatively genteel in Iowa, Philadelphia is known for no such compunction. Instead, Pennsylvania seems likely to be the theater for a grinding, drawn-out and increasingly bitter conflict.

I cannot express my utter distaste for what is about to occur in my commonwealth. And since Philadelpha is one of the two major cities, we will be subjected to the endless traffic jams around rallies and motorcades as the two candidates spar away. That's in addition to the commercial plugs on TV. Thank goodness for cable.

[Food Network, anyone?]
