Heard a brilliant word yesterday: Peregrination. It means to journey or travel from place to place, especially on foot. This word comes to us courtesy of a gentleman in my office who, for purposes of anonymity, we will refer to as "Chuck." Now "Chuck" is a delightful man, but has us all scrambling for the dictionaries whenever he sends out an e-mail. God bless, but it's like a vocabulary exam trying to figure what he's trying to say. My personal favorite:

"Workmen may appear on-site to access the plenum in the 10th floor ceiling."

Plenum? Who talks like this?

Watched Bridget Jones' Diary on DVD the other night. V. v. funny. REALLY a chick flick - I guess not exactly a surprise given the name. I mean, I doubt that too many guys would willingly pick this one off a shelf without heavy Spousal/Sig Oth prodding anyway, but figured I should note the obvious.

I had dinner last night with my friend John. It was very nice to see him. A rather belated Christmas dinner, but with the traditional Christmas foods: quesadillas, enchiladas, tortilla chips and margaritas. He gave me some exquisite Christmas tree ornaments that go beautifully with the ones I got last weekend, AND a bookstore gift certificate. Way too generous. I do need to go to the bookstore, so it is a timely gift indeed.

The laptop is still mute. It's not that it doesn't work, it just doesn't recognize the modem, CD ROM or scanner. Quite impolite, I think. Ana believes it is something in the "Motherboard." What a great word. So, for the time being I can only upload to the website from my office, so Diddakoi will be off the air next week. I have the chance to go down to the Caribbean for a few days to catch some rays - yea! Our Company has Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday off, so I'll be back in on the 22nd, hopefully tanned, rested and well-read.
