Hearts and flowers
It is Valentine’s Day and traditionally, there would be flowers or heart shaped boxes of chocolate candy or perfume or jewelry or other gifts from Mark to me – well, maybe not flowers. He feels that flowers are a waste - and some of the other traditional things I am not able to tolerate. I have developed an allergy toward perfume and some flowers. I get migraine headaches from chocolate. I wear only three or four pairs of earrings and I don’t wear much other jewelry. I have reached the stage in life where I really don’t need anything – anything!! Isn’t that amazing? Well, maybe I would like a little refurbishing in the kitchen but that is a whole other blog.
I did tell M (he has asked that I refer to him only as “M” now. I asked if he was trying to take Judi Drench’s role in the James Bond movies and received a puzzled look), that if he wanted to get me something he could get me a new catch for one of the bathroom cabinet doors that broke this morning. Apparently they don’t last more that about 46 years. He is off to Home Depot to look for it. Life is so much easier at this stage. I can make chocolate chip cookies or a lemon pie and that would make his day.
Psalm 16:5-6 says, “Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places ; surely I have a delightful inheritance.”
Indeed.
